Chad Tackett -
Philosophy
"As a child, I always wanted to be a
physician, to help people and make them feel better. As I grew older, I realized
that physicians are trained to treat and fix people, not necessarily to help
them live longer, healthier, and happier lives. I turned my interest to health
and fitness, and my mission evolved into teaching people how to make gradual,
realistic changes so that healthy eating and activity become a real pleasure, a
permanent part of their lives.
Over the years, I have worked with
more than 3,000 men and women of all ages and experience levels, people with
different goals and interests, people with different time and physical
limitations, people with disabilities. My greatest rewards come from clients who
reach their goals, be it the 25-year-old athlete whose game improves, the
45-year-old who finally feels comfortable and confident in a swimsuit, or the
75-year-old retiree who says, "I have more energy and feel stronger now than I
did 30 years ago!"
I believe that focusing on improving
day-to-day behaviors instead of relying on cures can not only help people live
longer and enjoy life more but also drastically cut the billions of dollars that
Americans spend annually on health care.
I believe that much of what most
people consider the normal aging process is actually the result of abusing or
neglecting our bodies and the result of a poor attitude. Consider a 40-year-old
who eats poorly, who doesn't exercise, and who believes that they have no
control over their health. Now think of someone the same age who eats a healthy,
well-balanced diet, who does regular strength training and cardiovascular
exercise, and who believes themselves to be an active participant in their
health and well-being. Which person feels better most of the time? Or has fewer
colds? Which person has more confidence? Which one looks
younger?
I believe that we cannot afford NOT
to take care of our bodies. Whatever our age, what we do now affects how we'll
look and feel in the years to come. Studies consistently show that how we eat
and how we exercise play a major role in how our bodies are affected by most
chronic and age-related diseases, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease,
stroke, and osteoporosis. Smart nutrition combined with strength training,
stretching, and cardiovascular exercise can help each of us develop a permanent,
realistic lifestyle that will translate into better health and more peace of
mind. That's why I developed the Global Health & Fitness On-line Fitness
Program."
