Mens Health Fitnesss Profile

One thing the "experts" do agree on is that for mens health nutrition and exercise are mutually co-dependent in building fitness. As such, taking a combined view is a sure path to achieving fitness for life.

The following fitness profile documents how my program can help you achieve lasting youth -- at any age.

Pictures of me in November 2003

I have been active in sports and athletic activities throughout my life. In my early youth I swam competitively, and later became Captain of our swimming team in High School.

I developed a commitment to fitness at West Point. During my four years there my classmates and I learned lifetime fitness sports such as golf and tennis. I was a member of the varsity swimming team. I was totally sold on the idea of fitness for lifetime.

In my middle-aged years my favorite exercise was jogging -- I even ran in three Marine Corps Marathons. In my mind I was a model of fitness. Then in the early 90's I developed a lower back problem. I tried a multitude of exercise programs, went to a leading sports medicine physician, and even followed special exercise program reportedly used by President Kennedy. Nothing worked until I met Larry Nachman. Convinced by his incredible physical condition at age 65, I started his 21st Century Fitness program.

My worst back pain symptoms evaporated almost immediately! Today, just a year after starting the program, I get out of bed in the morning without an aching back, no longer have to steady myself when stepping into my trousers, and enjoy many other benefits of fitness and youth – all without pain medication!

As a footnote, here are some other results:

  • Several years ago I had been diagnosed with heart disease – a calcium buildup in the blood vessels in and around the heart. Two years ago I started a nutrition program to reduce my weight – however, although I lost weight, I still felt chest congestion. That is when I started Larry's program of exercise and nutrition. Today the symptoms of my heart disease have reversed. Just four months into the program my total Cholesterol was down to 168, a marked improvement – better than when I was 25 years old! And, in a eye exam several days ago I found that I no longer had evidence of degradation in vision in my right eye – a potential symptom of impending stroke.
  • When I started with Larry I had no flexibility, i.e., I could barely rotate my head (without a grinding noise in my neck bone), could not stretch forward beyond my kneecaps and had impaired mobility in my shoulder, arm and hand. In other words, I had become old at age 68.
  • I have returned to swimming several times a week. I now am swimming 8-10 laps effortlessly, breathing on every other stroke.
  • 12 years ago I developed pain in my right shoulder that prevented me from playing golf, tennis and squash. The pain is gone, my shoulder fully flexible and I am ready to get my golf game back in shape.

To me, the most incredible thing about this is that I achieved these results by investing less than three hours per week -- certainly a mens health breakthrough! Having been in Larry’s classes, watching others and from my own experience I am certain that most others can achieve these same results.

July 17, 2004 mens health update: upon Larry's advice I changed my vitamin and nutrition supplements program. That was over sixty day ago and today I feel better than ever.

January 19, 2005 mens health update: I entered West Point feeling rather trim at 181 pounds. At the height of my Varsity swimming training my weight was around 175. In my later marathon years my optimum weight was 168 (then I was jogging 15 miles to and from work). My weight today was 152.

In March last year Larry endorsed LifePak® dietary supplements. Following Larry's book, I had been taking what I considered to be a comprehensive amount daily vitamin supplements.

Larry recommended that I get an scan (for the level of anti-oxidants in my body) to find out whether my supplements were working for me. In May, 2004 my first scan reading was 15,000, well below the national average of 19,000. That told me that my supplements were worthless -- so I switched to LifePak (click here for more information).

After about 65 days my body self defense score improved 66 % to 25,000. Last week my number was 35,000* -- 133 % better. My goal now is to reach 60,000 -- and stay there.

January 18, 2006 mens health update: Larry returned to Greenville, SC where his children's families live. He left his local program in the hands of certified Pilates and Yoga trainer LesLee Ames. Leslie added a few exercises and modifications to Larry's routine. I'm now settling into a 4 days-a-week exercise routine -- my wife doing alternate two days. Our Yorkie Brinsley thinks that exercise time is just great -- so we have built in motivation for everyone. NOTE: I like LesLee's addition of Yoga and some original Pilates mat exercises. For me the additional stretching and upper body strength exercises improves the overall workout.

*Now 45,000. I've add Pharmanex Marine Omega and G3 to my daily nutritional supplement intake. I've also just added Prostate Fomula to my monthly shipment. It is top rated for mens health at www.SupplementWatch.com.

February 13, 2006 update: we've switched to LifePak Nano which recently received a Product Merit Award from the Nutrition Business Journal, the premier trade publication in the nutrition industry. My wife and her daughter will also be taking the supplement -- its for all ages. Because LifePak Nano includes Marine Omega and it uses nano technology to increase body absorption, my monthly nutritional supplement cost will decrease.
