Here are the main elements of our total fitness program:

  • Exercise: What are the choices and which program is best for you?
  • Nutrition: Understand, start and maintain a healthful food intake program.
  • Nutritional Supplements: Today, everyone needs to supplement their normal food intake. What is best for you? How do you know your supplements are working for you?
  • Wellness: How do you integrate your fitness program into your busy lifestyle -- and those of your family?
  • How do you build/retain mental agility and stamina over a lifetime?
  • How do you motivate yourself and others to commit to, and follow your best fitness program for the rest of your life?
  • How do you make fitness a part of your lifetime success?

As we grow this site we will be soliciting inputs from others who also are committed to lifetime fitness. For example, one of our neighbors is a member of a Seniors Swimming Club here in Charleston, SC. He swims five days a week. Such an exercise regime has been documented to reduce and even reverse the effects of aging.

My own mentor Larry Nachman still swims in addition to following the Pilates mat routine that is a part of his 21st Century Fitness program. For a time when Larry's exercise classes were at our Community Y I swam after each session -- and I really felt great.

What you will find out as you explore this site is that I mostly will be sharing with you my experiences -- what works for me. I still play squash and hope soon to return to golf - in addition to my basic exercise program (which takes less than 30 minutes a day).

My own a program is one that I can take with me anywhere and follow it even when traveling. It was designed for those with very busy lifestyles. And believe me, if you don't have a active lifestyle now, you will want to when you have developed the habit of being fit for the rest of your life.

Richard here. I completed certification training in Pilates Beginner Mat the weekend of June 12-14, 2009.

Completed Intermediate certification training the weekend of August 14-16, 2009.

I hope to go through the Advanced Mat training in the Spring.

From my son

*** May 28, 2006 ***

I have been doing the 21st Century [see our Yoga Pilates page] exercises the past 4 months or so. I am currently adding exercises from the 11-15 week column 1 at a time (very slowly and deliberately). I have had minor lower back issues off and on for the last few years (muscular I am now sure). We have been moving our warehouse the last couple of days. There are a lot of small, heavy lower shelf boxes I have been moving and pushing and pulling around very heavy carts and racking. Definitely a recipe for disaster. I am pain free. I keep waiting for a shoe to drop but just finished this morning's exercise session and my back is better than ever. I am thrilled. It's funny, when I bend over I keep anticipating the pain but there is none.

Thank you,

Rick

Dad,

I did this ride a couple of weeks ago.

Route description/elevation: 120 miles from Evergreen to Avon over Squaw (11,140 ft.), Loveland (11,990 ft.), Swan Mountain and Vail (10,560 ft.) passes, with over 10,000 ft. of lung-busting gain in elevation!

The bottom line is that this site is dedicated to getting you started with your lifetime fitness program, then keeping you on that program. That requires a support structure -- and we will do our best to help you build one for yourself, and hopefully be a part of if for you and your family.
