WorldBeat

What is the WorldBeat Project?
The WorldBeat Project is a
non-profit collaboration with Weed and Seed to share valuable practices of
Health through Movement with under-served youth in Charleston. WorldBeat
classes focus on dance, yoga, and music, but will also include other practices
such as breathing and relaxation techniques to increase focus and
self-awareness.
Why the WorldBeat Project is so important:
Our
vision is one of health and fun. Through movement, WorldBeat will give the
youth of Charleston a chance to create a healthy and joyful life with exposure
to the art and science of practices proven to improve physical and mental
health. The WorldBeat collaboration aims to give these children the gift of a
caring community to awaken and nurture the potential in each of them.
How the
Program would be Implemented at Chicora Elementary:
The
WorldBeat staff would come to your facility one day a week for 10 weeks,
beginning in January 2005, culminating in a demonstration to showcase the
student’s efforts.
This
proposal is based on WorldBeat’s seed project at Memminger Elementary from
2003-2004 and can be adapted to serve the needs of your school. Please
