Rate Your Own Health and Fitness
Your own health and fitness -- how do you rate it? Perhaps you think that you are in
pretty good health. Perhaps you just need to lose a couple pounds and get a
little additional exercise.

If you really want to rate your own health and fitness then you should start
with looking at the results you received at your last annual physical exam. Have
not had one for a couple years? That's a pretty good indicator that you are not
keeping track -- and that you most likely are declining in your overall fitness.
Throughout these pages are reference after reference to how regular exercise is
the essence of good health. And, if you are doing the right exercises, you
should be able to pass the following body flexibility test with relative ease.
-
Lying on your back, hands to side. Lift your legs to the vertical position (with
your toes pointing to ceiling).
-
Return you legs down, stretch your arms over your head touching the floor, palms
facing the ceiling. Raise your arms so that your fingers are pointing to the
ceiling and move your chin to your chest and continue moving to the sitting
upright position.
-
Stand up and find a doorway or wall, stand next to the wall or door jamb,
leaning against the surface you neck and small of back next to wall/jamb, feet
shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent. Now move both arms straight forward,
grasp one of your thumbs with the other hand. Now, keeping your elbows straight,
move your arms upward until your knuckles touch the wall/jamb above your head.
-
Put your arms to your sides, move away from the wall, and keeping your knees
straight, bend forward and touch the top of your feet with your palms.
If you had no difficulty in doing any of these, then congratulations, your body
is flexible and you should continue with your current exercise regime. However,
if you had difficultly -- that's a good sign that your body is prematurely aging
and that your overall health is eroding. You need to either start or increase
the regularity of your exercise activities.
Let's return to my opening comment about assess your own health and fitness. If
you do have annual physical exams your doctor should give you an assessment of
your health. He will do this from your appearance, you weight and other
traditional indicators such as your cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
However, even if these are all within the recommended ranges, you still should
find out about your level of antioxidants -- your body's ability to ward of
disease. To do that I recommend that you get a BioPhotonic scan (find out more
here, complete the form below to find out where you can do that in your area.
Once you understand these benchmarks, you can assess your own health and fitness
on a continuing basis. Just include in your daily routine the activities that
keep you on the road to living better, longer.
